 Shreveport, Louisiana
Yolie, Ida, Miram, Doris and Schelley
Motor Maid Sisters Miram and Ida were fast and furious when it came to those pumpkin pies.... but Sister Miram came out the overall winner!

I think she was serious about winning this contest!  You go girl!

October is always a busy month for Motor Maids!  A few of us made it to Shreveport for the event....We even had a Motor Maid win the Pumpkin Pie eating contest!  Another one of our Sister Motor Maids was privileged to get to give a retired Sister (Nun) her first ride on a motorcycle.

Friday October 19th and Saturday October 20th, 2012 was the weekend several Motor Maids from the AR/LA/MS District participated in the 6th annual “Run With The Nuns”.  This annual event held in Shreveport, Louisiana benefits various children’s charities every year, bringing in thousands of motorcyclist and raising thousand of dollars.

On Saturday, festivities began at 8:00 a.m. on site under the Texas Street Bridge in the Red River district with the popular IHOP Breakfast, vendors, silent and live auction, the Biker Blessing, RWTN Humanitarian Award, live music by Earshot Graffiti and Pocket Change, and much, much, more all day activities!

The actual Run happened around 9:30.  One of our Louisiana Motor Maids, Ida Lirette (LA) got the privilege of giving a much older Nun (Sister) her first ride on a motorcycle.  This little Nun was very grateful for the experience and you could tell she loved it by the smile on her face!

Then for the get down and dirty fun of the Pumpkin Pie eating contest!  Ida and Miram Hennigan (LA) were up to the challenge with Miram diving face first she was the overall winner of this event doing her Motor Maid sisters proud.  Schelley Francis (LA), Doris Love (AR) and Yolie Donley (MS) were cheering her on from the safety of the sidelines!

After the big day on the river front, a planning meeting was held back at the hotel in Bossier City.  Kathey Day (LA) and new Motor Maid Becky Ham also from Louisiana showed up to discuss plans for 2013.

The AR/LA/MS District has lots of fun things planned for 2013 so we hope other districts will join in when you can.  We look forward to joining up with some of the nearby districts on some rides and events.  To me that’s what being a Motor Maid is all about; making new friends, riding your motorcycle, seeing the world on two wheels and feeling the wind blowing in your face.  I love the fact that we are making HISTORY!  We are apart of a rich heritage of what has been and what will be…..we are MOTOR MAIDS!

If you do Facebook please send me a friend request so I can add you to our Facebook District Page!  Let’s create some excitement and share our love of motorcycles… in a positive way!  I can’t wait to meet you all!
